Welcome
Bruichladdich Village Hall, built in 1933, is one of the original community halls on Islay. It has recently been extensively upgraded, including extensions in 1985 and 2003, to provide modern facilities. The hall has a regular programme of events and is available for hire.
The hall is used by for a variety of events from children’s parties to table tennis, Karate to craft fairs, circuit training to pilates, musical performances to quiz nights, celebrations and ceilidhs to purveys.

About
Bruichladdich Village Hall is run by a dedicated committee of volunteers. In 2020 the committee consulted with the public to establish what they would like to see the hall used for. Responses gathered that it should be modernised and have better heating, insulation and lighting, to make it more useable for all.
Since then the committee has carried out a number of improvements in line with those findings including:
Installing LED lighting throughout and some light sensors
Installing solar panels and air source heating pump
Improving insulation to the walls and roof
Improving the kitchen facilities
A PA system including mic and speakers

Bruichladdich Village Hall is approximately 50ft x 25ft (15m x 7.5m) and capable of hosting events of up to 130 people (theatre style seating) or 110 people (tables and chairs).

| Is there a bar? |
| Yes, Angus’ Bar is just off the main hall to the right of the stage. It is a separate bar area with optics, bar, small seating area suitable for serving drinks. |
| Does it have an alcohol licence? |
| No, a temporary licence should be applied for by the hirer to sell their own drinks. Find out more information here. |
| Are any other licenses required? |
| The hall has Performing Rights (PRS) and Public Entertainment Licenses (PPL) licenses in place. Anyone preparing hot food in the kitchen is recommended to have a health and hygiene certificate. |
| What kind of activities can it be used for? |
| From sports clubs to keep fit, fairs and fundraisers, parties and purveys, the hall is available for any community or social activity. |
| Do you have insurance? |
| Yes we have pubic liability insurance. Individual hirers are responsible for their own insurance and copies of the certificates may be required at time of booking. |
| Is there Wifi? |
| No, but the hall has good 4G. |
| Is there a sound system? |
| Yes, a Yamaha Stagepas 400BT Portable PA system, Sennheiser e835s Cardioid Vocal Mic with Switch, Boom Mic Stand and 6m cable, and PA Speaker Stands (pair). |
| Is there central heating? |
| Yes, the hall has central heating thanks to solar panels and an air source pump and there is hot water throughout. |
| Is it accessible? |
| Yes, the hall is all on one floor, with a wheelchair accessible toilet. The facilities in the kitchen area are not at wheelchair height. |
| Are there baby changing facilities? |
| No. |
| Is there parking? |
| There is limited parking outside the hall suitable for unloading and dropping off and picking up. On-street parking is available nearby, but we politely request that any guests do not use the parking opposite Bruichladdich Post Office and stores. |
| Is there any outside space? |
| There is limited space outside, with room for dustbins and recycling and space for bicycles. |
| What equipment do you have? |
| Tables and stacking chairs, which can be set out as cafe or conference style, or as trestle tables for fairs. |
| What’s in the kitchen? |
| A large American-style fridge freezer, kettle, hot water urn, microwave, range-style cooker, crockery, serving dishes, chopping boards and cutlery. There are recycling bins to sort out rubbish, brooms, mops and cleaning equipment. |
| Is there a caretaker? |
| No, anyone hiring the hall is expected to clear and clean up afterwards, ensuring the hall and facilities are left as they are found. |
| What’s provided in the hire costs and what isn’t? |
| Use of the hall and its facilities, heating and lighting are all included. The toilets will have toilet rolls and hand towels and there will be soap and washing up liquid, etc, in the kitchen. Those hiring the hall are responsible for any food and drink, decorations and for bringing any other equipment needed. |

Anyone aged 18+ can request to hire the hall, which is used by all ages and for a variety of purposes from children’s parties to table tennis, karate to craft fairs, circuit training to pilates, musical performances to quiz nights, celebrations and ceilidhs to purveys.As well as the main hall, with a raised stage and wooden floor, there are toilets and an accessible toilet. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen for self-catering including a large fridge freezer, cooker, microwave, kettle and urn as well as crockery and cutlery.
Angus’s Bar
There is a separate bar area with optics, bar, and small seating area suitable for serving drinks.Please note the hall is not licensed and a temporary licence would have to be applied for to sell your own drinks. Terms and Conditions
Bruichladdich Village Hall is a Scottish Registered Charity. These Terms and Conditions explain how our services are delivered.Booking the hall
Booking enquiries should allow sufficient time prior to events for set up/take down and ensuring the hall is left in good order as it is found. The named responsible party on the Booking Form must be present at the hall for the full duration of the booking and their emergency contact mobile number provided.The hall is run by volunteers so we will get back to you confirming your booking as soon as we can. Bookings are first come – first served, although where possible we will try to accommodate all bookings and sometimes it is possible to ask others to move their event. Please try to book as early as you can to help with this.
You must be over 18 years of age to hire the hall. All new or infrequent users (i.e those who do not have an agreed weekly or monthly booking) must complete our Booking Form before first using the hall. If you have difficulty accessing the form please contact our secretary by email.Setting up times can be agreed at the time of booking.The hirer of the hall may only use the hall for the purpose specified at the time of hire.Payment
Payment in full is required for all confirmed hall bookings (bookings will only be provisional until paid for in full) and must be received 7 days in advance of the booking date. Note that no reminders will be sent. Failure to pay on time may result in cancellation of the booking.Cancellations
To cancel a booking please email us, giving as much notice as possible.Refunds
Regretfully no refunds can be given for hall booking cancellations where less than 7 days notice is given. Refunds outwith this notice period are given entirely at the discretion of the hall Committee.Cancellations
In the unlikely event that Bruichladdich Village Hall should have to cancel a booking, as much notice as possible shall be given and an alternative date be offered, where possible, or a refund.
Public Liability Insurance
All commercial users will be required to provide confirmation of adequate public liability insurance for the activities proposed within the hall at the time of booking. No bookings will be allowed where public liability insurance is not in place at the time of the booking enquiry.Using The Hall
The hall key is in a keysafe, with the code provided before the event.Chairs and tables are stacked in the hall. Hirers are required to set out and put away any equipment used.The kitchen is fully equipped. Hirers are required to leave the kitchen clean, washing, drying and putting away all cutlery and crockery.The cost of a cleaner is not included in the hall hire. Hirers are expected to ensure the hall is swept and cleaned – including kitchen, toilets and bar – after use.The committee reserves the right to charge for the cost of a cleaner if this is not done.All rubbish should be sorted into the appropriate recycling bins, taken out of the hall and placed in the bins outside.Please report any damage or breakages, which may have to be paid for.Lighting and heating must be turned off and key returned to the keysafe.The committee accept no responsibility for the loss or damage to any property brought into the hall or in the surrounding area e.g. the car parking area.Persons under 16 must be supervised at all times.If you intend to have a bar, then you must have the applicable licence – the hall itself does not have an alcohol licence.Changes to our Terms and Conditions
